Carnaval Alchemist

Carnaval Alchemist is a character that is part of the art project Carnaval Atelier: Unearthing the Gold of Helmond's Carnival by Yasser Ballemans in collaboration with Museum Helmond. The project is a journey into the heart of Helmond's carnival tradition and it introduces the Carnaval Alchemist, a mysterious, gold-clad figure portrayed by artist Yasser Ballemans. He wanders through Helmond, searching for the soul of the local carnival. What makes this celebration so unique? What is the true 'gold' of this tradition for the people who cherish it? The Carnaval Atelier is a participatory art project designed to ignite the creative energy of the Helmond community by forging a new connection between art and carnival.

The costume of the Carnaval Alchemist is created by Anouk van Klaveren and Dewi Bekker in collaboration with Yasser Ballemans.

The costume is on show as part of The Carnaval Atelier at Museum Helmond from 15-07-2025 onwards.
